- Program - Disk Cover (DISKOVER)
-
- This program is using a modified version of the share ware concept for
- getting the program into the hands of people who need good software and who
- are willing to pay for it. These people should also be able to share in
- the fruits of their sowing. If you sow you should also reap.
-
- I am asking that if you use this program you should be willing to pay for
- the use. When you do that you notify me that you want to become a registered
- owner. When I receive your payment of $20, I will notify you of the receipt of
- it and I will provide you with a new serial # to be placed into your program.
- When you have received the new serial # and have installed it into the program
- (using the instructions I then provide), you should share it with your friends.
-
- You also need to become a salesperson, because when they register they provide
- me with the serial number on the version that they received. I register them
- give them a new serial number and I will send $5.00 to the person who is the
- registered owner of the old serial number. If you give away the program
- without registering it you are giving the $5.00 to who ever is the registered
- person on that copy.
-
- If you register and them put the program on your favorite bulletin board you
- will be lucky enough to get the program into the hands of many people that
- you don't know, and they are possible registers.
-
- Register, and give copies to all your friends. Take it to your computer
- club, share it around the office (If it is used in the office the company
- must register also; on each machine!); Remember IBM must have sold millions
- of the PC's, other millions of clones have been sold. You should be able to
- find lots of people who have a need to know whats on their diskettes without
- putting them into a drive of the machine. But you can't share in the rewards
- if you don't sow first.
-
- The following is the required information to send to me when you register;
-
- Business who want or need the source code must pay a fee of $35.00. This
- does not give them the right to distribute the source code nor does it give
- them the right to sell this product separately or as part of any product they
- sell. They have the use of it on the machine that they purchased it for.
- For unlimited distribution in their company (Compiled program only) contact
- the author for Site Agreement Amounts.

-
- What is this thing I want you to buy?
-
-
- This program was written to replace the Public Domain program
- COVER. This was a good program however it has a bug in it under
- Dos 3.1. The free space routine did not work. It gave you
- improper values. The program COVER also went into the wild blue
- and hung my machine when it read a quad density (808K) diskette with
- 4 sub directories.
-
- This program also allows you to dump the data to a disk file so
- that you can print it later with PRINT. This also allows you to
- free up your machine faster.
-
- The program DISKVR32, when first runs, goes into an install section, and
- asks you for the colors that you want and for the printer that the
- program should be installed for. I have put in the codes for six
- brands of printers (EPSON, OKIDATA, HP Laser and IBM). If you have a different
- printer and it uses the codes from these above printers you are OK.
- If not the program asks for the codes for CONDENSED PRINT, TOP OF FORM,
- RESET PRINTER, 1/8TH LINE SPACING. You should have your manual ready
- when you first run this program for these codes. If your printer does
- not have an option to reset then you can set it back to 1/6 line spacing
- and turn off the condensed print.
- Note: If your printer is not listed please sent the author a xerox of your
- printer codes so that the master program can be updated. I will send you a
- new version of the program if you will do that for me. Send this with your
- registration.
-
- The install option also sets up the colors that are used in the program.
- After the program has been installed for the first time, you should always
- run program DISKOVER.COM because when the program gets finished with
- installing the printer and color options it CLONES itself into the program
- DISKOVER.COM. That program will always have the new colors and printer
- options installed.
-
- If by chance when you are running this program, you decide to go to a
- different printer or want different colors then hit ESC at the first prompt
- and you will be placed back into the install section.
-
- The program is set up to allow up to 55 directories and 685 files.
- Not many people have that on floppies, but it will read a hard
- disk also and create a mini type list.
-
- The program also reads *.ARC files and *.LBR files and prints the
- file names, sizes, and times on the cover.
-
- The program does not allow you to create a file DIR.DIR on the disk
- that you are reading. It assumes that the device has a removable
- recording media and that if you are creating multiple labels then
- when the program would go to read the next diskette the file DIR.DIR
- would be gone. You can create a copy if you are running on a Hard Disk
- and you have told the program that you are a hard disk. If you are
- running on an Omega Device 10M floppy, just tell the program that you are
- a Hard Disk. You can also tell the program that your floppy is a hard
- disk but I cannot be responsible if your directories get clobbered because
- you remove the flopppy while the program is running.
-
- The program uses the Volume-ID on the diskette or hard-disk and it gives
- you an option to create a volume-id if one is not on the disk.
-
- When entering the Volume ID and Diskette Title message a mini editor
- is available for allowing the entry of data.
-
- Ctrl A or Home is beginning of line
- Ctrl F or End is end of line
- Ctrl S or Left arrow is left one character (except at beginning of line)
- Ctrl D or Right arrow is right one character (except at end of line)
- Ctrl G or Del is delete character forward
- Ctrl H or Backspace is delete character backward
- Ctrl Y is delete to end of line
-
- * Note Ctrl A and Ctrl Y delete the whole line of data. *
-
- You are always in an insert mode and anything typed at the cursor
- causes the following characters to be moved to the right.
-
- These codes are similar to those in WordStar and Turbo.
- When entering the DisKover label information by typing "F3" (Dos return
- previous) the previous information for the previous floppy will be returned.
-
- The program will print the children sub directories as part of the
- files. These directories are sorted to print in front of any file
- names in the parent directory. I print from left of the dirs
- down and then work to the right. ie.
- I will print Main Dir with the
- Main Dir sub dirs of A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H,
- ╔═════╤═════╤╩════╤═════╗ I, J (This will only be their names
- A B C D E F G H I J Not the files in those dirs).
- 1 2 3 4 5 I then will print sub A, followed
- a b by sub 1, followed by a, followed
- by b, followed by 2, followed by B,
- followed by 3, followed by C,
- then 4, then 5, then D, then E etc.
- This is known as an inverted Tree
- Sequence
- I will let you define the number of blank spaces you want as a left margin.
- If you are printing the names for a hard disk you may want room for
- a three ring binder holes. I print how much space is being used in a
- directory and it prints on the line with the directory name.
-
- A sub directory is noted on the DisKover by "SubDir" where file size
- should be followed by an *.
-
- Following is a sample of a disk cover (DISKOVER), except it will be printed
- condenced and I have made the line only 80 positions and the real cover is
- 88 positions wide.
